In a rare turn of events, none of these facts will involve infertility.

1. When I was in college, I used to declare that it was wrong to do homework on Friday evenings. I have just spent my entire Friday evening doing work, which is the case almost every Friday unless DH and I decide to go out to dinner or unless we are out of town.

2. I’m not particularly vain, but I was fashion-conscious enough to wear dress shoes to work yesterday, not realizing that by the time I left work there would be an ice storm in progress. Walking to my car was a little treacherous, especially since I’d parked far away and then had to break through the sheet of ice that had enveloped my car.

3. People often remark how DH and I are a perfect match, yet on paper we have very little in common and we have very different personalities.

4. I love all sorts of puzzles, but I really prefer to do them alone rather than play either cooperative or competitive games with others.

5. On a related note, I’m not really a team player. As a child, I always did individual sports — cause or effect?

6. I’m a little jealous that my cat seems to like my husband a little more than she likes me.

7. I am all about inertia. I have a hard time stopping what I’m doing enough to move on to the next task. On weekends when I’m headed to pottery, I usually get out the door much later than I intend, leaving me less time than I’d like, then I don’t leave the studio until closing. Sometimes I can barely get myself to work; then, at the end of the day I can’t get myself to leave. I literally leave at 10pm or later on a regular basis because I’m so wrapped up in whatever I’m doing. Usually hunger is the biggest draw. That, and the knowledge that by the time I get home I can maybe get 7 hours of sleep before starting over the next day — except that due to my inertia, I can never make myself go to bed even when I’m tired.
