I came across a news story about the recent increase in egg donation. The article attributes the recent rise in donors to the downturn in the economy; I can’t speak to that part.
But I must speak to this. The local fertility doctor, Dr. Bruce Shapiro, says the following about egg donation:
It’s more invasive than donating sperm, but still, it’s painless, and there’s more time involved, but we try to make it as smooth a process as possible.
The article also paraphrases Dr. Shapiro:
He said it is a fairly simple process that takes about three weeks.
It is obvious that Dr. Shapiro has never had his eggs extracted.
